WORLD YOUTH DAYFAQS
What is World Youth Day?
World Youth Day is a gathering of the global Church for a week-long pilgrimage event. Held every 2-3 years, Catholic young people meet in various cities around the world for a time of prayer, fellowship, celebration, and grace. The Holy Father is welcomed into these cities during the week, and concludes World Youth Day with a Vigil experience of Adoration and Mass. During World Youth Day, pilgrims are given hundreds of activities to choose from including cultural rallies, catechesis session with Bishops from around the world, site-seeing, and prayer. In addition to these daily activities, there is typically a Welcome Celebration, a Papal Welcome Celebration, and Stations of the Cross. WYD concludes with Adoration and Mass during an overnight camping event with the Holy Father.

Why should I consider World Youth Day for my group?
“The Light Shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it” – John 1:5
World Youth Day is a transformative experience of faith. At this moment in our cultural experience, young people often carry the heavy weight of isolation and disconnection. World Youth Day is a moment to light up the Good in the world, and celebrate Truth, and Beauty. World Youth Day allows young people to join in joyful celebration with up to one million (or more!) people of faith. Grounded in Sacramental Grace offered throughout the week, pilgrims experience lessons, music, and sharing in the fullness of the Gospel. It is a pilgrimage meant for igniting enthusiastic expression of the Catholic Faith and will spark pilgrims into a deeper understanding of lifelong discipleship!
